Most Photographed Baby

Mom and I have been having too much fun with taking baby pictures.  Here are a few of my favorites:

Busy Weekend

We were scheduled to be induced at 6:00 PM on Saturday, July 16th.  After a few phone calls and a few more hours of waiting we were finally admitted at 9:00 PM Saturday night.  It took the nurse 3 tries to get the IV set up- my veins kept rupturing.  Once the IV was sorted out a pill was inserted to help "move things along" and we were kept overnight in the labor and delivery ward just in case I went into labor.  Alan and my Mom tried to make themselves comfortable for the night and I was given a sleeping pill to rest up before the hard work started.

The next morning Doc broke my water around 8:00 and the pitocin was added to the IV around 10:00.  Baby was facing the wrong direction and I was able to experience the joys of back labor.  Alan and Mom took turns countering the contractions.  During the most intense parts of the contractions images of ice cream, tractors, and other pleasant things passed through my mind.  Mom informed me that my brothers hadn't left Salt Lake yet but would soon.  I called my old boss and asked him what flavors of ice cream he had out today and ordered a pint of Amaretto with brownies mixed in.  Greg and Reed were kind enough to pick it up for me.

By noon the pain started triggering my asthma and I agreed to receive an Epidural (originally I was planning on a natural labor simply to avoid an Epidural).  Alan held me as I sobbed and tried to be brave.  In the end, it was totally worth it.

By 3:00 PM it was time to start pushing. After an hour and a half of pushing, and with the help of Alan, Mom, and our wonderful nurse, I heard the sweetest cry.  Alan's face was filled with so much love and joy as he looked at our baby girl.  The doctor placed her on my tummy; Alan and I agreed she looked like a Faye and declared her as Faye Edy Johnson.

Thus began the life of who might be the most photographed baby ever.  Here are some of my favorite moments mom captured:

Proud Daddy

 The excited uncles.

My well earned ice cream.  Once I was all sewn up and Faye got to eat, I began chowing down.

Grandma Sharon.

Grandma Lisa.

We love our little girl so much.  I hope she was able to see Dino before she came to us.

Little Faye

She's finally here! I'll write more about our experience with the labor/delivery process later, but we're so happy to have our little Faye.

The grandparents have been taking pictures like crazy.  I'll share those with the labor story.

Attempts to Induce Labor

Well, still no baby.  We're currently three days past our due date.  I promise we're not late for lack of trying to go into labor!  Here are a few of the things we have tried:

  • Walking
  • Walking with one foot on the curb one foot in the gutter
  • Lunges
  • Squats
  • Push ups
  • Climbing a tree
  • Leg Wrestling
  • Core strengthening moves
  • Yoga/stretching
  • Driving on bumpy roads
  • Eating Pineapple
  • Eating spicy foods
  • Shooting
  • Jumping Jacks
  • Slip 'n' slide
  • Warm baths
  • Relaxing
  • Watching stand up routines
I haven't been brave enough to try the caster oil method and apparently my body situation is "unique" and the doctor is unable to strip my membranes.  As such, we have an appointment to be induced at the hospital set for Saturday night.  In theory we should have a little girl on Sunday at the latest.  Keep your fingers crossed that she'll come before then!

Eviction Notice

I, the Landlord (Mommy), am issuing a notice for EVICTION. Tenant (Baby) will have to comply and promptly vacate the premises within three (3) days, or wait until authorization for removal by physician. After which, she will be removed from the property by alternate means.

The Tenant (Baby) is being evicted due to breach of contract and destruction of property. Expansions only to the FRONT of the house, within reasonable limits, were discussed. Not only have these limits been exceeded, but additions to the back and sides of the house were also made without approval from the Landlord (Mommy).

Remodeling and gutting of the home was never approved, nor was changing the initial layout and base structure. Due to the damage by the Tenant (Baby), the foundation has been compromised, and the structural integrity of the house is questionable. The Landlord (Mommy) has also received numerous complaints about frequent numerous restroom breaks, clumsiness, inability to reach the floor, contraction pain that didn't lead to labor, sickness, and decrease in workable wardrobe.

If the Tenant (Baby) doesn’t comply with the notice it will result in a removal at the discretion of a physician and the Landlord (Mommy).

Target Practice

Yesterday Alan and I joined Kelly and Sharon on a spontaneous trip up Smithfield Canyon to shoot some skeets.  This was a first for me since my only experience with using a gun was limited to target  practice at Oakcrest.  Fear not, for my experience with shooting guns has grown to using a shotgun (with pellet charges rather than a shell), a 22 rifle, and a pistol of sorts.

Kelly is a great teacher.

Alan was our skeet thrower.

Bonding moment for the father and son.

Alan's turn with the Shotgun.

Alan's proud of his "little mom" being able to shoot a big gun.

Thanks for a fun evening!  I'm excited to try this again.
